S. Mark Taper Foundation Partners with Project Sister Family Services
in East San Gabriel, Inland Valleys

The S. Mark Taper Foundation has awarded a one-year, $50,000 grant to Project Sister Family Services to support the agency’s rape crisis, child abuse, and sexual assault prevention education programs. Grant funds will support Project Sister Family Services' 24-hour crisis hotline, accompaniment and advocacy services for survivors of sexual violence and child abuse, and professional counseling services for individuals and groups. The grant will also provide support for a broad range of sexual assault prevention and self-protection classes for individuals in middle schools through senior adult populations. These classes include presentations on dating violence and date rape drugs, sexual harassment in school and in the workplace, self-defense for women and for senior citizens, personal safety for seniors, information on child abuse, and identity theft and financial fraud prevention.

The S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation based in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1989, and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives by supporting nonprofit organizations and their work in our communities. With this grant to Project Sister Family Services, the S. Mark Taper Foundation creates an important partnership with an agency dedicated to reducing the trauma and risk of sexual violence and child abuse throughout the East San Gabriel and Inland Valleys in the Greater Los Angeles area. Project Sister Family Services welcomes this exciting new collaboration, and the opportunity it represents to allow us to continue to provide the excellent services and programs upon which residents of our 27-city service area have come to depend for the past 35 years. We extend our sincere thanks to the S. Mark Taper Foundation! [March 2007]
