Project Sister Family Services (PSFS) strives to reduce the trauma and the risk of sexual assault, child abuse, and child sexual abuse in the East San Gabriel and Inland Valleys of Southern California by providing a variety of crisis intervention services and outreach and prevention programs.

Online Resources

  • CALCASA - California Coalition Against Sexual Assault - statewide coalition of rape crisis centers and prevention programs with the mission to "provide leadership, vision and resources to rape crisis centers, individuals and other entities committed to ending sexual violence."

  • Parents for Megan's Law and the Crime Victims Center - community and victim's rights organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of sexual abuse through the provision of education, advocacy, counseling, victim services, policy and legislative support services. A New York State Certified Rape Crisis Center with a 24 Hour Local Hotline, they staff the Local and National Megan's Law Help lines. PFML has recently expanded its mission to include the new Crime Victims Center, a program designed to link all victims of violent crime with crime victim compensation and multi-agency referrals for support and assistance.

  • The Date Safe Project - "provides strong and positive voices for discussing sexual assault awareness, healthy dating, and specifically addressing consent" and produces weekly Podcasts.

  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Women's Health Information Center provides information on sexual assault and prevention.

Services for adults molested as children

Many people assume that our sexual assault crisis services are only for adults who have been raped or children who have abused. In fact, nearly half of the work we do in our counseling department at Project Sister Family Services is working with adults who were sexually abused as children. A recent study found that as many as 27% of women and 16% of men had been sexually abused as children. Read more >>>

Teen Sexual Assault Survivors Seldom Complete HIV Prevention Therapy - "Fewer than one-half of adolescent sexual assault survivors who are prescribed medications to prevent contraction of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) may return for follow-up visits and only about 15 percent complete the therapy, according to a report in the July issue of Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
