event
honors Steve Cooley
and Assistance League of Covina Valley
On Thursday, April 22, 2004, Project Sister Family Services
held its fourth annual
fundraising event, Healing the Heart, at the Sheraton Suites
Fairplex Hotel in Pomona. This elegant event is designed to honor
members of the community whose work has furthered Project Sister Family Services
mission to reduce the trauma and risk of sexual violence, child sexual
abuse and child abuse.
 This year's honorees
included Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve
Cooley,
in appreciation of his work to promote the use of DNA evidence
in cases of sexual assault and abuse, and the Assistance
League of Covina Valley, for its generosity in support of Project Sister Family Services'
advocacy and accompaniment services for sexual assault survivors. At right, Justice

Dignitaries, supporters,
and a large number of new sponsors, as well as valued sponsors
from previous years, gathered to make this event a record-breaking
success! Over $35,000 has been raised to benefit Project Sister Family Services'
many critical services and programs designed to reduce the trauma and
risk of sexual violence and child abuse. New features certain to be
repeated at next year's
event included the opportunity to bid on an exciting array of gift
items in a Silent Auction. Gifts included two tickets from Southwest
Airlines, an outstanding assortment of adventures and vacation getaways,
gift baskets, handcrafted jewelry, and a pair of shoes donated by
Bette Midler.
